good fishing

I just got back from my fishing trip to Alabama. My friend Jim [I’ve known since 5th grade] and I hit those southern lakes hard for three days. The result was good. We caught a lot of fish. What kind you ask? Catfish, perch, bluegill…but the fish of choice…largemouth bass and crappie [FYI – yes that is the correct spelling – it’s pronounced, “croppy”].

The crappie fishing was outstanding. On Thursday we brought home 38 keepers and threw back probably 30 or more. In terms of largemouth bass….wow, we caught some lunkers [that means “generously proportioned mircroterus salmoides” in fishing lingo]. Overall, not too bad for a couple of North Jersey guys.

Fishing is very serious stuff in the south. In case you doubt it…my friend Jim told me about this popular country western song [not my genre of music] which pretty much says it all. It’s called, “I’m gonna miss her.”

re: the random-ness

Ok...so you've located the place where I put down my random thoughts. The key word here is random: music, sports, art, food, books, news, spiritual musings, weird stories, etc. I'm especially interested in how everyday experiences of life intersect with the ancient stories of Scripture. Thanks for reading.
